Health and Society is an academic unit involved in research and teaching
in the field of health and health promotion.




A healthy society is happier and more productive and is a key driver of economic growth. Investing in people's health therefore, means investing in society. In this 21st century, the improvement of population health continues to be a challenge. In the Western countries, chronic illnesses such as diabetes and cancer as well as new unknown disease, replace the burden of infectious disease. The prevalence of the latter has dropped in most countries due to for instance improved sanitation, better nutritional quality and medical and technological innovation.

Assets for Health

During this summer course we will explore the theory and practical approaches to assets based approach to health. Assest based apporoaches are associated with the salutogenic perspective of health that focus on the health enhancing resources and protective factors within people and societies that create health and wellbeing and increase control over the determinants of health.

En allemaal zaken die speelnatuur te bieden heeft! Maar hoe ziet goede, beheersbare, uitdagende speelnatuur er uit? Hoe initieer je, ontwerp je, maak je, beheer je deze in de woonomgeving?
